Thorsten Coelle

Thorsten Coelle, born in Stuttgart, Germany, studied theatre, comparative literature, and political science in Berlin, then opera stage direction at the Conservatory "Hanns Eisler", Berlin. In 2005 he became staff director at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, where he oversaw more than 30 productions.

Since 2011 he has been working as the personal assistant to the internationally acclaimed director Dmitri Tcherniakov – in the opera houses of Munich, Milan, Madrid, Barcelona, Aix-en-Provence, Brussels, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Moscow, St. Petersburg, New York, and Toronto. His original productions were shown in Berlin at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz and various
theatres in Germany and abroad.

In Chernivtsi, Ukraine, he has staged "Super Bags" with the German speaking theatre company Bukowiner Phoenix and "Zimova Podorozh" with singers and actors from Germany and Ukraine.
